The dwelling, initially in a state of severe disrepair, was once considered for demolition and complete reconstruction. However, a more sustainable approach was adopted, involving the thorough gutting of the original structure while preserving its foundational elements. This decision not only reduced material waste but also honoured the existing architectural footprint, ensuring continuity with its surroundings.
A modern extension was seamlessly integrated into the design, enhancing both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the property. The extension’s contemporary design juxtaposes the original structure, creating a harmonious blend of old and new. High-performance materials and energy-efficient systems were employed throughout to improve the building’s environmental performance.

Given the dwelling’s proximity to Kingspan Stadium, noise management was a critical consideration in the design process. Acoustic insulation was strategically incorporated into the build, particularly in the new extension, to mitigate external noise intrusion. This ensured that the dwelling provides a tranquil living environment despite its urban setting.
The resulting transformation demonstrates a thoughtful balance between sustainability, practicality, and modern design sensibilities, breathing new life into a once-neglected property.
